Originally assinged to the genusCretalamna by Elizebeth Nicholls in 1988, this specimen was suggested to be Squalicorax by Kenshu Shimada in 2014 due to the thinness of the vertebrae and their shallow concavitiies and the curvature in the right palatoquadrate being appropiate, along with the stratigraphy, to suggest Squalicorax.
