Museum Introduces New Mobile Technology for Visitors
The initiative is part of the museum’s ongoing effort to utilize cutting edge technology to enhance the visitor experience and ensure a higher level of engagement for all ages. The CFDC is also proud of the fact that it has been able to partner with local Manitoba developers on both of its technology initiatives.
“It is incredibly important to us that we support Manitoba business whenever possible,” said executive director Peter Cantelon. “In both instances we worked with Winnipeg-based Bit Space Development and in our first app we also worked with Winnipeg-based ZenFri as well – there is no reason to leave the province when we have such spectacular talent right here. This new audio tour is a phenomenal enhancement to an already amazing experience at the CFDC – visitors simply download the free app and scan QR codes placed throughout the facility to get a very professional audio tour.”
The CFDC partnered with Golden West Radio and their staff member Tyler Hildebrand to ensure the highest quality in audio and voice talent.
“As with the developers we found local talent right here at home and are grateful to Golden West and Mr. Hildebrand for their support,” said Cantelon.
The tour adds 22 different audio engagements for visitors to gain a deeper understanding of the CFDC’s collection of fossils including Bruce, the Guinness record holder as the largest mosasaur on earth.
The easy to use CFDC Audio Guide joins the Fossil Discovery Adventure augmented reality experience in the museum’s rapidly growing technology quiver with more already being planned for.
The CFDC contains Canada’s largest collection of marine reptile fossils and much more.
