Winkler, Manitoba

From Ludhiana, India

My name is Ramandeep Kaur Ubhi. I live in Winkler. I am from India. I came to Canada in 2007 and lived in Brampton, Ontario for 4 years and then moved to Winkler, Manitoba in 2011. I am married and have 3 boys. I am an Education assistant at elementary school. And I really love painting. In India, generations over the millenniums have seen all species as their friends and partners with whom they share the earth. They have been presented in beautiful forms in paintings and sculptures as companions of deities, as symbols of power and beauty or simply as decorative embellishments. And I also believe animals to be messengers of good luck. This dinosaur has fulfilled my dream of being an artist. When I was a little kid I used to draw on the floor with used matchsticks. I wanted to be an artist. I was very excited when I signed up for this MosasART Project. It was like my dream art. My brain was full of different ideas. As I started to paint I changed my mind many times. My kids also suggested many ideas. They encouraged me a lot too. It was so much fun and a wonderful experience. I have tried to design this piece like a true Indian artist. I am very grateful to the Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre for giving up me a wonderful opportunity to fulfil my desire. Thank you!
